This is kind of airborne sports, where flying feelings are most pure ones: you are sitting in harness 3m under wing, made of „handkerchief“and you are surrounded by air. Lot of paragliding pilots have experiences with climbing in thermal with eagle or other bird....
Back to ground ;-). Who haven’t paragliding pilot license, but like to taste it, have two possibilities, basically.
Passenger will be fastened to harness and to experienced pilot.....start running both... get into air..... fly..... and landed. Flight length is between 5 and 10; depend on altitude difference between start and landing, weather and passenger’s stomach resistance. It is good to take in consideration (physical conditions, suitable footwear over ankle), that short run could be necessary on start and/or landing.
You will spend one or two days. You will have rented equipment and your instructor will explain you how to manage paragliding wing, start and landed. You are not flying at all, bumping is more exact impression, but altitude 2-3m and length 20-30m.... are narcotic, nearly ;-).
Pilots with license, IPPI card can fly in Tröpolach directly, probably, although there isn’t any official start point there. I think that they will not make any attempts there. Reason is very simply: Emebrger Alm (Greifenburg) ground is well known and popular, due suitable starting points for rookies, as well as experienced pilots. This site is 37km from Tröpolach away, let say 5 km behind turn to Weisensee lake. Base info and services for pilots (weather, taking up to start points, etc.) are provided by http://www.fliegercamp.at/ (in German language only). New flying site, Rottenstein, was opened immediate.
Tandem flying and taste trainings site is a little bit far way and not so popular – Gerlitzen/Annenheim (64 km). But some advantages are there, for aerobatics pilots, especially – you can fly over Ossiachersee lake. Detailed paragliding info are available here http://members.aon.at/gernot.isak/index.html (in German language).
